Whatever may be the reason when a relationship ends it is something that we have to live with for the rest of our lives. The pain and suffering of this separation is something that we have to deal with objectively and sensibly. It is for us to choose.
Some people live with this thought that the other person was not made for them and they move on. Some people live with this bitterness all their lives that they never sorted out issues between them. Whatever may be the reasons for breakups we have to choose our own methods of healing? We need to be determined to get over a Breakup
Let us examine how we have to get over a break-up and move on with our lives.
1 The first and foremost reason is throw away all love letters, cards, birthday cards and
especially photographs. The more these things are around we feel sad whenever we look at them and the emotional clutter it causes in our minds. We constantly dwell on our past
2. Pick up a hobby and get immersed in it.
3. Go out with friends and enjoy with them.
4. Pick up a physical activity like swimming, jogging, trekking in the mountains. Our physical activity enables us to lift us from the heavy emotional baggage that we are carrying.
5. Make a list of other goals and ambitions that you would like to achieve in the coming months for e.g. doing well professionally or doing a professional oriented course to enhance your career prospects.
6. Some prefer quiet meditative moments in the silence of their homes. They like to reflect, analyse objectively, and pray to God to give them the strength to move on.
7. Some prefer talking to very close friends and even parents. They seek peace and solace in their guidance.
8. Some prefer to allow time to heal their wounds. Once they have matured and the wisdom and strength of courage and character soon begin to make sense they are ready to move on with their lives. Whatever may be the reason for the break-up we should not blame ourselves or the other person or anybody else. We must learn to forgive and forget the whole episode.
9. One way of getting over a break –up is to get into the attitude of ‘love all’. Love everybody who comes into your life. Don’t pretend to love them but be genuinely interested in them.
10. Take a break from being interested in one person and get involved in many social causes, love the old people in an old age home, love orphan children, love poor people.
Give a lot of love and you will soon find love coming back to you.
11. Let go off feelings of resentment, anger, frustration and loss. Let feelings of forgiveness engulf you. As you mature you will look back at the person you once loved with a lot of fondness in your heart.
12. It is often said that ‘music soothes the tormented soul’ Listen to soothing music that calms you in every sense of the word.
13. Do not fall back on sedatives, tranquilizers and sleeping pills to solve your problem.
It is a broken heart that you are dealing with. Give it time to heal.
14. Give your heart to God and He will make it strong to face any emotional tragedies that come up in life.
15. Believe in the power of prayer. Nothing can be more powerful in this world other than prayer. Make prayers the center of your life.
16. Once you have overcome a break-up make up your mind to bring meaning and purpose to your life. It is not the end of the world and it is not the end of your life so get up and pick up the broken pieces of your life.
17. Rebuild your life once again. Rebuild and make your foundations stronger.
Finally we must all remember a heart break or an emotional set back only gives us a chance learn more from life and move on. Our set backs make us grow and strengthen our relationships with our family members as we know that in times of crisis it is our own people who give us the love and moral support to carry on.
